So it's been awhile

The Journal ;

Yea. it's definitely been awhile. Year 13 has been like, i can't say a living hell cause it hasn't been THAT bad, but oh, it's been so hectic. Topic tests here and there, emotional roller coaster going up and down. Yes, i am experiencing life.

And soon, 2010 is coming to an end, and I have to say 2010 was/is one hell of a year. New school, boarding house, new friends, new challenges, new problems. I got a lot out of 2010. A LOT. It was a great year.

And I say this after every year. I say the latest one was an awesome one, and that it's been the best one, cause let's face it, there is no best year. Well, for me there isn't. After 2008, I thought it was a pretty good year. After 2009, I thought it was a pretty good year. Now, after 2010, I'm gonna say it was a pretty good year. Pretty awesome year. And I wanna say I'm looking forward to 2011, but it friggin scares me. Even the thought of next year. *shudders* But I'll be thinking at the end of 2011, that it was an awesome year. Every minute I am alive, nay, every second I am alive, I am happy (:

So yes, I have nothing to complain about, nothing to regret. Of course, I definitely have worries, and issues, and who doesn't right? But most of em are basically about me being self-conscious and yea, most of em are about me beating myself up. Oh well. I'm only 17, cut me some slack. I keep thinking I'm allowed to get away with stuff, cause I'm still 17. Like, make up, or dyeing my hair an outrageous colour, going out partying, making stupid mistakes. Cause, in my opinion, when you're about 20-30, you have "responsibilities". Mehehehehehehehe.

This is just me doing my usual rants. Because I feel like it. Because I haven't been so good. Because I feel like it. But because life is so awesome, and that I love living life the way I live life, and that I wouldn't have it any other way, I remain optimistic every single day. And I suggest you do the same, cause life is too short. 100 years? Not long enough. And you never know when you'll die. I keep living life thinking, crap, what if I die tomorrow? You never know, I could die tomorrow. *God, please don't let me die tomorrow*

But if I did, i wouldn't be too sad about it. I'm happy with what I've got, and sure I haven't gotten a lot. But I have no regrets. Sure, I'll be so much more happy living life longer, but if God wants it, then God wants it. And I'm basically living now, cause God wants it, so yea. I'm living :)

So I initially thought this was gonna be a super short post, saying hi, and bye, but i guess the emotional, ranting part of my brain took over. Anyways, I'm gonna leave you with this, and till I get back, I bid you farewell.

And if I don't get there in time, Happy Christmas and Merry New Year. Or was it the other way round?

Ciao hombres.

What wasn't / should be / will be in my school bag?

GET READY FOR A SUPER LONG POST.

So I was asked to do this blog post for a certain someone *cough* *cough* and I wanted to do a video on it as well cause I'm just so bored, stuck at home this summer and school in gonna reopen in 2 weeks WOAH.

I don't have the school bag I'll be using when school starts, but I have a feeling I'll be changing my school bags regularly, just cause I'm the type of person who is indecisive and I love change, sort of, so it's okay, I can use other bags in the mean time.

bags

So anyways, I was using a back pack and it's so pretty and I love it, and I'm pretty sure a lot of people thought I was a freak because my backpack was so so so bright and colourful. It's a backpack from Dickies.

The other day, Megan and Nerissa came over and I remember liking Megan's handbag so much, and she showed me a facebook online shopping profile with a bag there and I really liked it, so I ordered it, and it's gonna arrive in around Mid - September wooo!

NEW BAG =)

Ain't it purty? It has studs on them... STUDS.

So okay, I was getting really excited for school, and I was really really really bored one afternoon (I think it was mid July) and I remembered a few months back (or a few years back?) that people did a "What's in my purse" or "What's in my school bag" video. I searched that and I found some amazing videos here, here, here, here and here. There are some recent ones as well there, cause when i subscribed, they made new ones hehee.

They really helped cause I was the type of girl to forget all her stuff for school, and I would be the one who was borrowing other people's stuff (yes, annoying much), so I decided to be a little more organized and I started watching all these videos and actually wrote a list of things I have to bring to school, just cause I'm the person to forget a LOT of things, especially the things I have to bring to school EVERYDAY. essentials.

First of, you have all the textbooks and binders and folders and blah blah which are important because duh, you're going to school. Study stuff.

Study stuff ;

  1. Textbooks
  2. Folders
  3. Exercise books / testpad
  4. Pencil Case
  5. Study Planner

I've just got these books and wrapped them up and I love them cause they are soooo pretty <3

170820101564

After wrapping them, I thought to myself, what if they don't allow you to wrap your books? :O Because after that, I realised that not a lot of people wrap their books, specially not in these kind of wrapping paper. Oh well.

Then I have these pocket folders which I made myself  (Note ; Yes, I'll be doing a video about it soon)

Picnik collage

AREN'T THEY AMAZING!? And they also match my textbooks, so I know which folder is for which subject, cause you know, you only have 5 mins to get your stuff from the lockers, and it's easier to differentiate like this :) Oh and these are not permanent, as in my notes won't be in here forever, every week I'll clean out these folders and put the notes into bigger files with proper dividers (Who wants to bring those to school?)

Then you have exercise books / testpads (foolscap paper) which is either up to you, or up to your teachers, but I guess nowadays people use test pads a lot, because it's easier to hand in your exercises and notes and homework that way?

And my pencil case which has...

170820101567

170820101568

pencil, pens (coloured, blue, black) , pencil lead (no where to be found), eraser, stapler, glue, post its, tags, binder clips, blanco (tipex/white out), calculator, highlighters and a ruler. Phuh. Did I miss out anything? staples. (not in the picture cause I forgot =.=)

Study Planner
And my study planner which is really really really useful, especially when you have a lot of homework and your forgetful (like me) and you won't remember everything (50% of the time, you won't and yes, I made that statistic up) and what I do is I highlight the homework that needs to be done and i put EXTRA highlights at the side if it REALLY needs to be done, and there's a tick at the side to tick it :D and since my highlighters are erasable, i erase them afterwards, which is liberating, really.

SO all that study stuff aside, I still have

  • sanitary bag
  • phone, iPod
  • a "things to do" book
  • water bottle
  • body mist (which i might just keep in the locker)
  • deodorant (for P.E. days)
  • tissue
  • hand sanitizer
  • glasses
  • MINT
  • keys
  • a book for reading
  • wallet
  • Hair clip
  • camera
The sanitary bag, is where I put all the stuff I need to keep myself.... sanitary? Hence the name. So what it is, is just a small little pouch where I put..

170820101574

170820101575

lip balm (cause I bite my lips), contact lens case & solution (cause sometimes my contact lens will just give up on me), dental floss (you don't know when it'll happen), menstrual panadol (you never know), blotting paper (my face gets oily all the time), sanitary pad *cough cough*(not in the picture), hair bands, plaster(not in the picture), mirror (which i am still trying to find), comfort drops & small hair brush ( both not in the pic cause I forgot =.=)

Photo on 2010-08-17 at 14.56

The phone is because, well, duh, you kinda want your phone around with you, iPod cause I sometimes stay in the library after school to do my homework because I know I won't do it back at the Boarding House (too many distractions) and it can get noisy SOMETIMES, specially after school and I kinda need music to study / do work.

The "things to do" book is pretty much self-explanatory. It's a book where I right down the things I have to do, the events that are happening, the money that I owe people (this happens all the time) and so on and so forth. It's just to get me organized and be less forgetful (I swear, it's a disease that I have)

170820101577

Water bottle ; cause it's good to be hydrated (we have water fountains around school so it's okay if you run out :D )

Body mist / deodorant ; because B.O. is a definite no no.

170820101578

Tissue ; This isn't in my sanitary bag, because when I sneeze, or have something up my nose, I'd rather reach for it straightaway than having to reach for my sanitary bag and then have everything else spilling out. Same reason for my hand sanitizer.

Glasses ; for when my contact lens fail me. (I forgot where the casing of the huge glasses are)

170820101579

Mint ; because I have bad breath.

Keys ; to my room cupboard and locker.

170820101581

A book for reading ; because I don't want my mind to rot and I wanna start getting back into reading again. Current book ; the five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom

170820101582

Wallet ; for when I need to buy something at the school shop. and when someone / something needs money and I.D.

170820101583

Hair Clip ; When I need to clip my hair.

170820101584

Camera ; to document the moments :)

SO that's all. As you can see, I don't bring make up with me, cause I don't really use make up everyday, only when I feel like it, and even then, it won't be as heavy and as obvious that I need to touch up every so often. :)

I hope you guys find this helpful and what this shows you is that I'm bored, I'm very forgetful and

I CAN'T WAIT FOR SCHOOL WEEEE.

Ciao, hombre.

(I swear, this blog post took about 2-3 hours to do ._.)

So that's basically it, and the Movie Marathon that Saturday night was awesome, we watched.... The Sorcerer's Apprentice, then we watched Nine Temples or something like that. Nine Temples was a bit boring though and quite complicated but it was okay. And Marcus's party the next day was fun, We bought him a whole lot of stuff including condoms (AHEM, 18, legal), boxers, diapers (for 18 months old), cute spongebob erasers, toothpaste, huge pen, and a "Upin and Ipin" stationery set.

After that, I kinda just lazed around at home. Went swimming with Megan and Nerissa the other day (I think that was either last week or the week before? no no, last week :D ), had kaizen sushi saturday night, hmmm not much happened OH WELL.

and let's not forget...

HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY SHARON!

we baked brownies and surprised her at her place, then ate sushi and talked for about an hour, it was fun :) We mainly talked about JIS, which kinda made me more excited to get back to school, but i bet once it starts, I'll be moaning and groaning, counting the days till the next holiday arrives.

And I wanted to go to KK with the confirmandees on the second week of September, and seeing as they kinda need more people to facilitate, I wanted to join so badly, but it was the second week of the start of school so Mum said no :( SIGH.

And I'm planning on going on a diet (I know I've said this a lot but yea), kind of an experimental one to see if i can lose the tummy or not, it's gonna be a water / exercise diet. So my dad's recently bought a treadmill and I will try my best to run on it everyday, and exercise everyday (I'm playing squash tomorrow :D ) and it's 3 meals a day, small snacks in between are okay but not encouraged. If I get hungry, I'll drink water :) Like, seriouuuzzzly. I'm gonna try my hardest with this HEHEE.

And I'm vowing not to swear anymore. It's not healthy for anyone. So yea. :)

And I've started making Pocket Folders. :) Gonna make a tutorial on it soon :D

Oh well, here's a super long post, I'll try blogging everyday so it won't be this annoying to read :P

Till then,
Sayonara, Samurais and Geishas :)

Clincal Attachment yo

So what's up.

It's thursday, which means I've already had 4 days of my clinical attachment. Tomorrow's my last day at panaga. Kinda happy about it :D

So on monday, I was the only one new on the job :( So they showed only me around, which was okay, I saw all the different departments, but yea, I was alone :( So it was a bit boring, but later on in the day, I was in X-ray and Ultrasound department. I first saw a little girl, she was having an xray of her ankle, then i saw another woman, two actually, not at the same time but yea, they were having xrays of their back and neck taken, then one of a boy's hand. Yea wasn't so bad. I got to see ultrasounds as well! The first one was about 6 weeks old, not that big but you could see it, then I saw one which was 14 weeks old and it was awesome. Like, you cannot imagine how I felt. Haha. It was like you were in the movies, but this was in real life. WOAH. Then after that, I was in the outpatients clinic which wasn't too bad, but there was an hour where there weren't any patients coming in, so it was....awkward. Me and the doctor talked though so it was okay.

Then on tuesday, I was at the physiotherapy department which wasn't much, cause I only saw three patients and basically they were either having heated plates on their backs or electric plates, then being massaged. So I didn't really get to see hard core physiotherapy, intense leg recovery sessions or whatever, but it was okay :D Then later on, I was at the dental department and one of the dentist kept on asking me questions and blah blah, mostly just talked, then after that I waited there for about half an hour? Till finally a lady dentist invited me to come into her room and see surgery :) A woman was getting her tooth extracted, so yea, it was quite gruesome but it was cool :D I got to see stitches being put in. The patient even asked to hold her hand, so I didn't feel completely useless that day. Then after lunch, I was in ante-natal care, where me and the doctor saw a couple of pregnant women. He made me find the top of the uterus, which I could do, but then he asked me to find the baby's head. That was harder, but it was aweeeesome. Touching a baby in someone's womb? Bouncing their heads between your hands? Call me crazy but I found it cool :D

Wednesday, I spent the whole day in the labs. I didn't exactly find it super duper fun, cause I didn't hang out with any patients. The only time there was interactions was when I was observing the guy taking blood samples. But it was okay. I saw other cool things like in microbiology, how they check out the swabs and urine and blah blah. And in Haemotology where all the blood samples were taken in for blood count. SO it was alright :)

Today, I spent half of my day in the lab and after lunch I was in the minor operating theatre. In the lab, didn't do much. Saw how they determined the blood type and how they checked for antibodies and other tests which was cool. And then i had my blood taken for experiments :D So turns out my protein level is low, which means that I have to start eating more meat. :S So then after that, I was in the MOT where I saw a contraceptive called "Implanon" being taken out and put back in to the patients' arms. Not at the same time though, but yea. It's basically a plastic tube which gives out progesterone so that you won't ovulate and hence, not get pregnant. It was nice, the closest I got to surgery so I found it cool. It seemed sooooo painful though. Not exactly the putting in and taking out, but when the patient was injected with anesthetics, BRRR. The pain. Then I saw an IUCD inserted into a lady's cervix. It was the first time I've ever seen a vajayjay up close man. WOAH. Up till today, I never really actually for certain knew how it looked like. (Yes, I'm a girl, I'm not a dude, I just don't look at myself like that, looking...down there). So yea. They had to stretch it. :S

Tomorrow i'll be in the warts clinic. Some hard core crap there. HAHAHAHAHA. And I'll be getting mine removed anyways, so hopefully, yea I'll learn something. But it's easy. There's liquid nitrogen and scraping it off. Pfft. hahaa then in the afternoon i'll be in the outpatients clinic, then i'll be DONE. FOR THE WEEEEK. WOOOO.

This week passed by pretty fast ae. Then next week I'll be in kb, in the surgical department, so i totally can't wait for that, but I'm kinda sad, cause i wanna get this clinical attachment over and done with :( So anyways, yea that's pretty much it.

OH kB SSB is having a Breastfeeding day on Sunday, you guys should totally come and support the event. There'll be games and competitions i think. I'm not entirely sure, but i'll be one of the volunteers. SO come by and support breast feeding :)

okay?

Mmhmm.

So I have a major crush on Puck in Glee, and his badassness and his ability to sing and play the guitar.

RAWR.

And I have a sore throat, which doesn't exactly get better cause I keep singing.

And I went out with Nerissa and Albert to Villa Mauri, which was kinda okay, i guess, the food. The place is nice though, but the background music is a bit weird. Imagine yourself eating lasagna, with a guy singing opera music. Not exactly your ideal meal.

Then sharon met us, and then we went to nanyang, then to excapade, and then Megan joined us. We basically had two meals in the span of three hours. Awesome? My tummy says no.

But all in all, I had a great time with them, <3

And that's all folks.

Well, I'm going home, down hearted and hoping I'm close to some new beginning. I know there's a reason for everything that comes and goes. But so many people are looking to me to be strong and to fight, but I'm just surviving. And I may be weak but I'm never defeated and I'll keep believing in clouds with that sweet silver lining. And most days, I try my best to put on a brave face but inside, my bones are cold and my heart breaks. But all the while, something's keeping me safe and alive. And I won't give up like this. I will be given strength. Now that I've found it, nothing can take that away.
